Accessibility is a concept very often related to Web Accessibility.
However, Accessibility means much more than that.
Accessibility has the main goal of making all technologies compatible with assistive technologies used by people with disabilities. For example, people who are blind, deaf, unable to use a mouse or keyboard, or have other special needs often use assistive technologies to work with computers.
First of all Accessibility is addressed to every individual included in the Digital Divide group, and in particular to people with disabilities.
The Disabled Community is a very vast group of people (more than 800 million worldwide) and includes people with physical disabilities, visual impaired, deaf, and many others.
Most of the time, the Accessibility concept is interpreted as something for visual impaired people only (low vision or blind), which are a small percentage of the whole disabled community.
In addition to that, Accessibility must be addressed to all technologies and not only to the Web (even if very important); any technology available on the market should be fully accessible by anyone (software applications, telephony technologies, environmental control systems, Information Technologies, etc.).
